The ancient city of Huế in Thừa Thiên – Huế province has been recognized as one of the most affordable destinations in Asia for April and May.
As travelers across Asia anticipate long weekends and holidays, digital travel platform Agoda has identified the tourist destinations with the lowest average accommodation costs. For those seeking budget-friendly options, Udon Thani in Thailand tops the list, while in Vietnam, Huế offers the most competitive room rates during this period.
With an average room rate of $43, Huế is now the most affordable tourist destination in Vietnam, taking the top spot from Ninh Bình, which held the title last year.
Vũ Ngọc Lâm, Country Director Vietnam at Agoda, commented: “As many in Asia look forward to upcoming public holidays such as Songkran, Hari Raya, and Golden Week, and locally with the Hùng King’s Festival and the double holiday of Reunification Day on April 30 and International Labour Day on May 1, now is an ideal time to plan a holiday. Agoda’s mission is to help travelers see the world for less, and sharing the latest cheapest destinations ranking is a great way to do that.”
The destinations with the lowest average accommodation rates across eight Asian markets include Udon Thani in Thailand, Surabaya in Indonesia, Huế in Vietnam, Kuching in Malaysia, Iloilo in the Philippines, Bengaluru in India, Narita in Japan, and Kaohsiung in Taiwan.
Despite their budget-friendly rates, these locations offer plenty to visitors, from the lively streets of Bengaluru and Kaohsiung to the tranquil riverbanks of Huế and Kuching.
A new report from Booking.com also highlights Huế as one of the most desired destinations for domestic travelers during the upcoming holidays. Huế ranked seventh among the top 10 most searched domestic destinations for Vietnamese travelers from April 26 to May 1, 2024.
As temperatures rise, 75% of Vietnamese travelers are looking for cooler destinations to escape the heat, with Đà Lạt topping the list. Known for its refreshing mountain air and serene landscapes, Đà Lạt is the most searched domestic destination for this holiday period.
Located in central Vietnam, Huế is a city rich in history and culture, having served as the former imperial capital of the Nguyễn Dynasty. It is famous for its historic monuments, including the Imperial City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its majestic palaces and temples. The Hương (Perfume) River flows through the city, enhancing its picturesque charm, and visitors can enjoy boat cruises to view the surrounding architecture. Huế is truly a must-visit destination in Vietnam.
The upcoming holidays, Vietnamese Reunification Day and International Labour Day, will last five days and are expected to attract many visitors to Huế City.
In the first quarter of this year, Thừa Thiên – Huế welcomed 892,000 visitors, marking a 41% increase year-on-year. This includes 447,000 foreign visitors, up 75% from the same period last year.
